Cairntradlin Farm
Image of sheep and cows
Cairntradlin has been farmed by the same family of Campbells for three generations, but the family have been in Kinellar since 1840 on a neighbouring farm and we can trace our family name in a straight line back to 1723 in Durris.

In the not too distant past we used to breed pedigree Landrace pigs (my father), pedigree Beef Shorthorn cattle (my father and grandfather), and only recently resurrected by the current Campbell, who also has a small pedigree flock of Charollais sheep.

Farming has changed and we have changed with it. Strawberries were first grown at Cairntradlin in 1969 when my father was one of the founders of Harlaw Fruit Group which at its height was growing 110 acres of strawberries in Aberdeenshire.
Image of packhouse It was in 1994 that my wife Liz and I decided we had to get closer to our main customers, increasingly supermarkets, and erected a packhouse and a few years ago we added a new chill and also a new students block as well.

Last year we supplied 75% of fruit to supermarkets as well as wholesale fruit to Glasgow and Edinburgh. The farm shop and local markets are also important outlets.
